Latest Updates from Our Project:

Trekker & Daily Drawing Drawing!
about 4 years ago – Wed, Feb 12, 2020 at 05:09:57 PM

Greetings beautiful backers!

We are now officially at %70 funded! Special thanks goes out to backer Chip Phillips for pushing us over the $5K mark! On a whim I threw out onto social media that I'd be giving a special bonus to the backer that got us there, and here it is:

A quick character sketch of Hermione Granger, one of Chip's favorite characters.

This has actually given me an idea for another fun thing to do moving forward:
A Daily Drawing Drawing!
At the end of every day for the rest of the campaign, one lucky backer will be chosen at random to receive a bonus black and white character sketch! Character of choice! One of mine, someone else's, whatevs! If you know someone who's thinking of backing, make sure they get in on this!

And, as long as I have your attention, I want to highlight another bonus comic you'll be getting in the Kickstarter All-Star(ter)s Bundle:

Trekker by Ron Randall

Trekker is the stuff of legend in the world of creator-owned comics, and I am super-duper-extrapleased to have it as part of my very first Kickstarter. It first started in 1987, making it almost as old as I am (don't tell Ron I said that)  and is chock-full of the cyber-punk/retrofuturism goodness you'd expect from that era. In case you don't know, it follows the exploits of badass bounty hunter, Mercy St.Clair, who lives by her own rules and takes orders from no one as she makes her way through the violent and complicated world of the 23rd century. Ron is currently running a campaign for a hardcover edition of the complete 450 page original run of Trekker, which you can check out by CLICKING HERE!

Rollin' into week two!
about 4 years ago – Sun, Feb 09, 2020 at 10:14:27 PM

Woof! After all the drum beating last week, I decided to take the weekend to chill a bit. Not only because I needed a bit of a rest, but also because it was our eldest daughter's 5th birthday. We had a grand time, and I definitely ate more cupcakes than I should have. Fun fact: Beer and cupcakes are kinda delightful together.

Currently we're hanging out at around %64 funded, which is fine. Things are gonna creep along for a bit, but from what I've heard that is a natural part of the Kickstarter lifecycle that you just have to tough out. Kinda like Kickstarter puberty.

There's definitely some fun to be had along the way, though. First of all, I had the great privilege of being on the Wayne's Comics Podcast this weekend. Wayne's a great guy and has been a supporter of Impure Blood since we met at C2E2 waaay back in 20-somethingorother. He's got a great back catalog of indie-creator interviews, too. So once you're done listening to us, be sure to scroll down and see if there are some other names you recognize!

Item the second: Barely had time to register it, but we blew right past the %50 funded milestone!

Wouldja just LOOK at all that swag!

I call it my Kickstarter All-Star(ter)s Bundle! All backers will recieve 6 comics by some of the coolest and hottest indie comics creators, all of whom have also have Kickstarters running this month!

First one I want to talk about (and the one I'm most excited about because I'm a fan and psyched that she even talked to me, much less have her be part of my first Kickstarter) is Aurora and The Eagle by Ashley Victoria Robinson with art by Emmanuelle Chateauneuf.

What if the Justice League operated like the United Nations? Each country has superhero representative to keep the world in balance. When Canada’s rep, Ed Fitzgerald, dies under mysterious circumstances, the American vigilante, The Eagle, is forced to recruit Aurora, Canada’s premier superhero, and bring her back to the States to begin her training.

Ashley is currently running a Kickstarter for book two of her other other project, Jupiter Jet, which she co-writes with husband, Jason Inman. The campaign is down to it's last 10 days, so be sure to jump over there and check it out while you can!

Click HERE to do that, right this very instant!

I'll be highlighting the others as the week goes on, so be sure to keep an eye out! And I can't wait to roll out the %75 milestone bonus! You're gonna love it!

Thanks again for backing! Hope you had a good weekend and happy Monday!

What a start!
about 4 years ago – Thu, Feb 06, 2020 at 08:38:00 PM

Ho...Lee BUTTS, you guys!!

A year ago, when I first decided and announced that I was going to do a Kickstarter for Impure Blood, I had NO idea what would happen. Since then I've felt everything from utter confidence to utterly confident that no one would back. To be almost two-thirds funded before the end of the first week is probably the best launch for my first Kickstarter that I could have hoped for. Thank you, thank you, thank you! From the deep and buttery cockles of my heart, THANK YOU!

So, for my first update I want to highlight the rewards you'll be receiving for backing early: The much vaunted STEAM-FANTASY Bundle. 5 books (4 comics and one prose) all within steampunk and/or fantasy settings. Here's what's included:

BOSTON METAPHYSICAL SOCIETY

Written by Madeleine Holly-Rosing with Art by Emily Hu

When fear of change releases a malevolent entity from imprisonment, it falls to an ex-Pinkerton detective, a psychic medium, and a man of science to knock it on it's butt. Madeleine is an engaging writer, a Kickstarter veteran, and one of the first minds that I tapped when I decided that I was going to give this whole crowdfunding thing a shot. She has very patiently answered all my questions, and I recommend her book, Kickstarter for the Independent Creator.

She has a Kickstarter running right now for the latest issue of Boston Metaphysical Society, so you should definitely click here to go check it out!

TRIUMVIRATUS

Story and Art by Shane W. Smith

Winner of theBest Fiction accolade at the 2019 ACT Writing and Publishing Award, Triumviratus is a story of jealousy, self-esteem, and three desperate people whose misadventures in love bring the world to its knees. This is drama worthy of Shakespeare, y'know... if Shakespeare had written comics.

SECRETS OF WILLOWMYST

Written by Lisa Moore with Art by Iwan Nazif

Alex hasn’t seen another faerie in a very, very long time. She’s not even sure there are anymore faeries! That changes when she spots Tavin, another faerie who wasn’t supposed to be seen which sets in motion a number of mysteries which quickly begin to unravel. This story is cuter and more charming that it has any business being.

Issue 2 is now live on Kickstarter and a hairsbreadth away from funding!

Click here to check them out and show them some love!

THE WORLD OF M

Written by Juan Pablo Osorio with Art by George Vega

Jack Mast, is a man that must unburden himself from his past and find friendship with a sentient steambot called Walter Tank. Together they become entangled with a helpless little girl who must rescue her imprisoned mother from the Silk King.

You can follow along with their continuing adventures on their webcomic page.

NO REST FOR THE WICKED

By Phoebe Darqueling

Clairvoyant Viola Thorne wants to forget about her days of grifting and running errands for ghosts. The problem? Playing it safe is dull. So when a dead stranger begs for her help, Vi jumps at the chance to dust off her hustling skills.

Phoebe (AKA Alison) and I were table neighbors at TeslaCon this year, after I had backed her TWO Steampunk Short Story Anthologies Kickstarter. The audiobooks are delightful and I highly recommend picking them up!

Click here to go to her website and check out all the cool stuff she writes!

If there's a lot of awesome in this package, it's because you've already made my month. Keep your eyes here for more updates, giveaways, and other initiatives that I'm going to be running during my campaign! For the moment, though, it's time to rest up. We're off to a great start, but the battle's just beginning!
